Silk Floss Tree (Ceiba speciosa)

This is the time of year when it flowers and drops it leaves.

flowers

Not the best tree if you need to walk by it and/or have kids around.
truck of the tree
At the time I thought it was a good idea to plant it where it is as it will shade the front yard.

leaves
A small little stick with few leaves on it didn't look like it would get big that fast, but it did.

Euphorbia seedlings

I don't try to grow anything from seed but if some thing does come up I wait to see what it's going to be.

Euphorbia ? in with a cutting of Alluaudia procera

To me it looks like Euphorbia millotii x viguieri

Fouquieria fasciculata

Comes from the dry tropical forest habitats to warm deserts in Mexico.

Is said to grow only on steep slopes and canyons in the Metztitlán area of Hidalgo west to adjacent Querétaro.

Has a massive, fat trunk that tapers into spiny branches.

I have had this plant for more than 25 years and I can't see any size difference in that fat trunk. I have cut back some of the branches.

I got it from a small road side plant place some where on our way to Deming New Mexico, or was it on our way back.  I can't remember.

It's been in the ground for the last 15 or so years. It was not flowered in all that time.

When it was planted in was in full sun, not any more as some trees have  grown up so now it's in part shade most of the day.
I know it should be move to get more sun but where?

Decaria madagascariensis

Decaryia madagascariensis is the only species in the genus. It has succulent stems growing in a zigzag pattern with two spines on the outside where the stem changes direction.
When it gets larger it should have pale yellow flowers. The Decarya is dioecious (there are male trees and female trees).
From: www.desert-tropicals.com/

Sun Exposure: Light shade to full sun
Origin: Madagascar
Growth Habits: Deciduous spiny shrub or small tree, 20 to 30 feet tall (6-9 m)
Watering Needs: Regular water all year long
Propagation: Seeds, grafting (on Alluaudia), cuttings are rather difficult

I got this plant in 2011 (see photo ↑) it had 2 plants in the pot. I was going to wait for it to get bigger but it didn't do anything. So this year(2014) each one got it's own pot.

This is the way it looks now (2014)
It only took a few years for some thing to happen.
