Sarasota Bromeliad Society Show and Sale


The Sarasota Bromeliad Society Show and Sale  is coming up at Nov. 8 & 9
Here is the schedule as I know it.

new venue:

South Gate Community Center
3145 Southgate Cir.


Nov. 6, Staging and set up  8am - 10pm

        Entering bromeliads and bromeliad-related art for judging 

        9:00 AM to 6:00 PM*


       Setup for plant sales and accepting plants for sales,
      10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

 

 

Nov. 7   Final, pre-approved entries for judging,

       9:00 AM to 11:00 AM

         Plant  sales open 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
       
      Judging, 12:30 PM – 5:30 PM (or until judging is completed)
        Setup of head table, following judging
 
Nov. 8 
     Show and sale 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
     Banquet, cocktails 6:30 PM; dinner 7:15 PM (approximate)
    Auction following banquet
 
Nov. 9,
      Show and sale 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
      Disassembly and removal of show and sale,
     4:00 PM until finished

Stapelia grandiflora
 Stapelia leendertziae not in flower at this time so I didn't take a photo. The plant looks like Stapelia grandiflora when not in flower.

Crown of Thorns

Euphorbia milii splendens comes in many froms and colors.

With all the hybrids around you can find all kinds of colors and color combinations as long as it is red, yellow, white or a shades or one of them.
 
Their are big and small forms as well.

 A easy to grow plant that can take full sun.
 Blooms freely most of the year

This is a Thai Hybrid with large flowers




 
 It is a  Euphorbia so the sap is poisonous, it can irritates the skin, and can cause temporary blindness if it goes in the eyes.
