Where to get information about dyckia's

I only know of a few places to go for information about dyckia's.
Good infor is hard to come by.

The first place is Dyckia Brazil at http://dyckiabrazil.blogspot.com which is a blog by Constantino Gastaldi in Brazil who grows that seen like all dyckia sp found in Brazil and some hyb.

The second place is

Florida Council of Bromeliad Societies at
Lots of photo's plus you can search the species database and the other database's they have.

and

Bromeliad Society International web-site at
You can look at the pictrues. One of the best thing on this site is the
Bromeliad Cultivar Register search. You need to be a BSI member to see the
recent back issues of the BSI Journal. These issues are available as Adobe Acrobat.
Also Bromeliad Binomial.

A word about Encholirium

I don't know alot about this group of plants and I only have the 4 you see in the photo's below plus one Bigeneric that is not mine. Most I've only had a year or so and the only one large enough to flower is Angelita (Dylerium / Dyckia Encholirium Angelita) and I'm not to sure what it is.

 Encholirium magalhaesii

 Encholirium subsecundum
 Encholirium horridum

Dylerium / Dyckia
Encholirium Angelita

x Enchotia
 Encholirium horridum x Hechtia macdougallii
(not my plant)

Dyckia  Chocolate ↑
The only Dyckia with a terminal blooming spike. I guess this plant had flowered before the same way (thanks Max) that I forgot about bach in Feb. 2009.

See link.

Encholirium horridum doesn't produce any offset so you need to grow it from seed to get more. Encholirium Angelita does produce offsets and so does my Dyckia Chocolate. I don't know if any of the other Encholirium are like Encholirium horridum or Encholirium Angelita. If anyone know let me know.

This is a list from
FCBS Bromeliad Species Online Database:

Dyckia Chocolate

I have a Dyckia with a terminal blooming spike right now so does that make it a Encholirium?
That plant is Dyckia Chocolate.
I can't remember where I got this plant, I think it was Tropiflora.

3D photo's

It seeme like most new movies that are coming out are in 3D.
Sooooooooo
I thinking of adding some photo's in 3D. Anyone like to see dyckia's in 3D?
Who have 3D glasses?

Dyckia Silver Spurs

I'm off to e-bay to get 3D glasses.

UPDATE:

My 3Dglasses came today. I looked at the 3D photo's now my eyes hurt. But I paid money for the glasses and now I have to use them to get my money worth until my eyes fall out.

x Enchotia ?

So what is x Enchotia?
I guess it is a Bigeneric that Ray at Tropiflora made.
Encholirium horridum x Hechtia macdougallii

Ray had put one in the show for display only.

I had seen this plant at Tropiflora and they have few of them but I have not seen any with offsets.

Orthophytum leprosum or Orthophytum lemei

I guess the only way to tell the difference between Orthophytum leprosum and Orthophytum lemei  is Orthophytum lemei has red bracts when it's in flower.

I got this Orthophytum at the rare plant auction with a note telling me that.

Now this plant I have had for some time now labeled as Orthophytum leprosum.
It does have the same color leafs but the leafs are not as fat. What could it be?
Maybe I need to water more.

My entries in the Show

I only entered  3 plants in the show this year.

 Dyckia goehringii F2
 Dyckia Mercury F2
Dyckia Arizona F2

All 3 plants won Award of Merit which is better then a 1st Place award. But not good that good to make to the Head Table

I only entered 3 because most of my plants are almost done flowering of have seeds coming along on them. Plants with seeds would have to be removed.
