Gloriosa Lily

Gloriosa Lily or the Climbing Lily

This plant seems to re-seed its self and finds new places  to grow without my help.

I planted it a few years back but not where it's growing now.

Had a few plants come up in different parts of the yard in years passed but this is the only one still growing.

Box Turtles

I have box turtles, right now I have 6.

At one time I had 30 but most where eaten by  a wild cat. Of that 30 most where babies only a few months old.

This is the three-toed box turtle ( Bruno ) that I've had for more than 30 years. é

The turtle pen is about 4 feet wide x 16 feet long.
That mup spot (I have to clean and fill with water) is a small pond that holds water for them.

What would you get with Dyckia Suppressed Anger x Dyckia Dakota ?

So what would you get with Dyckia Suppressed Anger x Dyckia Dakota ?

Most likely just a green Dyckia. But you never know with seeds.

I guess no one knows what Dyckia Dakota is, some think it's  Variegated form of fosteriana. But Dyckia Dakota gets bigger then any Dyckia fosteriana I've seen. I don't think it’s a form of Dyckia fosteriana. I also don't think it a hybrid from Dyckia fosteriana.

Dyckia 'Suppressed Anger' is said to be a cultivar of Dyckia velascana.
It also is said to twists and turns and splits. I know what twists and turns is but splits. Don't know what that  refers to the plant I have puts out offsets and so far the head was not split. So what does that mean?
I think it has better variegation  then  Dyckia Dakota.
Have no idea what this will look like when it fills a 10 pot like the photo's of Dyckia Dakota.

The cost of one is alot less then Dyckia Dakota.
Dyckia Dakota can go for $1000 where as Dyckia 'Suppressed Anger' can go for less then $50.

This photo of a unknown Dyckia has almost to much Variegation.
I don't think it lived.

Dyckia Dakota from seed f2?

The photo above is a seedling from Dyckia Dakota. No variegation at all. Dam!!

xDyckcohnia Bones Mahogany

xDyckcohnia Bones Mahogany has got to be one of the longest flowering  Bromeliads I have. This plant been in flower starting way back in Feb. 28, 2012

Feb. 8, 2012

Feb. 8, 2012
When leaves are that long it's hard for water to get to the pot/roots so it is in a saucer.
I do keep it watered.
Feb. 28, 2012
Still no offsets.

5 months later!

7/20/2012
How long will it flower??

I think I'm going to cut the leaves back from the bottom so I can see the soil, and maybe the extra light at the soil line will help it offset. That else can I try???
After some careful leaf removable with my sawzall.

Uncarina

Is this Uncarina abbreviata or Uncarina  stellulifera?
I have or had both at one time but the tags seen to have gone to who knows where.

Not all my Uncarina do well, this is one of them.
The other Uncarina's that don't do to good is the other of the same color what ever that might be (Uncarina abbreviata or Uncarina stellulifera).

This plant (in the photos) just got repotted  about a week ago and is in flower now. I have few Uncarina's that grow alright but don't want to flower.

é Uncarina  stellulifera I think but the color is off a bit from the other one.

Have not seen it flower ê

Uncarina decaryi

Dorstenia

Dorstenia a funny little plant with funnier looking flowers.

Wikipedia has this to say about Dorstenia:
Dorstenia is a genus of about 105 species in the Moraceae plant family. Most species are Neotropical or Afrotropical, with a single species in India, Sri Lanka and the island of Socotra (Yemen). Dorstenia is named in honor of the German physician and botanist Theodor Dorsten (1492 - 1552).

I think I have about 4  at the most.

Of the 4 I have 3 I have no idea that the names are.
.

?

They don't like temps below 40.

Dorstenia carnulosa

Dorstenia carnulosa didn't like me, it didn't look that good when I got it . It's gone.

Dorstenia lanceolata

Dorstenia lanceolata
Dorstenia lanceolata did not like me and didn't last long.
Dorstenia crispa v lancifolia

?

Some of the Dorstenia in the photo's don't like a lot of water and can go dry for a short time.

Who Is looking for rain?

We have been getting 1 - 1/2 inch of rain a day for the last 4 or 5 days now.

Not all the plants like that much water.

This was my only and best ever Dyckia 'Yellow Glow'.

Euphorbia lophogona

This Euphorbia is getting to be a little bit of a weed, It seems to like my yard.

It's growing on a small burm.

 All most 30 inchs tall.
 By the driveway
 In a hanging basket
It all started from this guy in a pot. Not as large as the one growing in the soil.
If I look around a little more, there might be more of them.
Some do look better(better color on the leafs) then others or they could be hybrids. I do have other Euphorbia nearby.

Deuterocohnia longipetala

This is the 1st time I ever had any seed from any Deuterocohnia.
Do you need two different plants to get seed?

I wonder what it is crossed with.

This plant is not by any other Deuterocohnia but Dyckia's are all around it, so could it be pollinated by a dyckia?

I do have a Deuterocohnia about 20 feet away on the other side a 6 ft high fence.

This is it.

It has been in flower for a looooong time this summer.
